Background of the Study
Chatbots have become increasingly popular in various industries, providing automated assistance and improving user engagement. In educational settings, AI-based chatbots offer the potential to enhance interactive learning by providing students with personalized support, answering questions, and offering tailored learning resources. These chatbots can also serve as virtual teaching assistants, supporting students in real-time as they engage with course materials. At Federal University, Lokoja, there is a need for an AI-powered educational chatbot system that can foster interactive learning and improve student engagement. This study aims to design and implement an AI-based educational chatbot for enhancing learning experiences at Federal University, Lokoja.
Statement of the Problem
The traditional classroom environment often fails to provide personalized attention to each student due to large class sizes and limited instructor availability. Students may struggle to access immediate assistance with course materials, leading to gaps in their understanding and reduced engagement. While online resources and learning management systems offer some support, they often lack the interactive and personalized features that students need to succeed. There is a need for an AI-based educational chatbot system that can offer immediate, tailored responses and engage students in interactive learning.
Objectives of the Study
1. To design and implement an AI-based educational chatbot for interactive learning at Federal University, Lokoja.
2. To evaluate the effectiveness of the AI-based chatbot in improving student engagement and learning outcomes.
3. To assess student satisfaction with the AI-powered chatbot in terms of usability and learning support.
